While towns like Raipur and Bhilai are witnessing heavy traffic jams due to the continuous downpour. But it isn’t easy for stray animals to find a haven and food for the wet season. Raipur-primarily based animal rights activist Dola Sengupta says, “The last year, around a hundred stray dogs and cats died for the duration of the monsoon due to lack of shelter and food. In these 12 months, more than 400 of them are on the streets without food and safe haven, and we are coming across several dogs and cows that might be badly injured and falling sick due to the rains.
